The Lap

‘47 miles of joy’, that’s how the team behind The Lap describe it. It’s an ultra marathon circumnavigating the beautiful Lake Windermere in the Lake District. The event runs twice a year, in spring and autumn. I was asked to join the existing photography team to try something new for them; for years they’ve had fantastic images of their competitors, but they wanted to try something new and have more artistic images of the runners in the landscape. My brief was to chase the runners around the route, capturing them in scenic locations that depict both the laid back nature of the race and the beauty of the landscape.
