Dartmoor Wild Camping Protests

This is something I wish I didn’t have to photograph. Dartmoor National Park is the only place in England where wild camping is legally permissible. In 2022 a wealthy landowner, a hedge fund manager from London, challenged the legal right to wild camp on the moor. Over the following two years a series of protest walks have taken place to raise awareness of the issue as the challenge made its way through the courts.

I believe in both providing access to nature and educating people about environmental issues, so I volunteered my time to photograph the protests when I was able to. Images have been provided to the organisations leading the response to the legal challenge free of charge. They have been circulated on social media and in news articles.
